The new Cineplex VIP theatre opened its doors to the public Sept.23rd in Kitchener.
The brand new, state-of-the-art 56,000 square foot venue includes six traditional theatres, one Ultra AVX, and four VIP 19+ theatres. All 1,300 seats are reclinable loungers. In the VIP theatre, the loungers are fully reclineable and each has a table, in order to eat from the in-seat menu offered.
VP of communications and inverstor telations at Cineplex Pat Marshall said that the theatre is a “premium, adults-only entertainment experience” and that Kitchener residents will be the first to experience these brand new seats. Marshall also mentioned that the audio and visual systems were from local company Christie Digital.
Kitchener mayor Berry Vrbanovic said, “[I’m] very excited to have the first VIP theatre of its kind in Kitchener.”
Vrbanovic said the theatre speaks to this area’s passion for entertainment and that the theatre created over 120 permanent jobs in the Kitchener-Waterloo community and that it will attract and retain the kind of employees the city wants in its technology and start-up sectors.
