WUSA and UW’s Stratford campus have partnered to create a new pilot program, which will have regular buses running between Waterloo and Stratford during the upcoming fall term. Functioning as a trial initiative, a limited number of term passes are now available to Stratford students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Fall term passes cost $197.75 each (including tax) and provide students with unlimited access to the bus. The weekly bus schedule is as follows:
Waterloo to Stratford: Monday through Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
Stratford to Waterloo: Monday at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
Bus trips will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 6 (first day of classes), and will run until Tuesday, Dec. 5 (last day of classes). Buses will not run during reading week (Oct. 9 to 13), university closures, or on holidays.
Bus availability in future terms will depend on the success of the pilot program. If ridership is high this fall, the Stratford campus says it will work to expand the program; if ridership is low, buses will not be offered again.
Also championing the program is UW’s Global Business and Digital Arts (GBDA) Society, the representative body for GBDA undergrad students. Graeme Tooley, president of the Society, explained that transportation between the Waterloo and Stratford campuses has been “an issue” for many GBDA students, and hopes the pilot will “contribute to a safer and more reliable commute.”
Fall 2023 bus passes are currently available, and can be bought here. For more information on the program, visit its webpage.
