UW instructor names, classroom locations removed from public websites

UW instructor names and classroom locations have been removed from UW-owned public-facing websites. The change comes after reviews of UW’s emergency response, which began after the attack on a gender studies class that left the professor and two students hospitalized.

Work on the change was announced Monday in an email to UW employees from James W.E. Rush, vice-president, academic and provost.

The email also stated that Gregory Smith, chief information officer, Nick Manning, associate vice-president, communications, and Kate Windsor, director of safety, are working to “broaden training and access to [UW’s] systems” in the short term, and to improve UW safety systems’ effectiveness and efficiency in the long term. This work is expected to be completed by the end of this calendar year.
