There will be about 12,000 troops in a new NATO-led mission to train and assist Afghan security forces next year. In addition to that, there will be a US-led force dealing with the remnants of Al-Qaeda. Thousands flood Hong Kong streets to support Occupy Central movement

Hong Kong’s Central District remained crowded with protesters Sept. 30. This protest is a result of Beijing rejecting to give a free vote to Hong Kong for its next leader. Last month, Beijing announced that the people of Hong Kong could elect their new leader in the 2017 elections but stipulated that the candidates must be pre-selected and screened by a committee of people who are perceived to be supporters of the Chinese Communist Party. According to BBC, the protest has been very calm and peaceful. China has told Hong Kong to bring an end to the protest, after calling the demonstration illegal. A meeting between officials from Hong Kong and China was scheduled in order to resolve the issue, but it has since been cancelled and no replacement date has been announced.
