The host city also celebrated its country’s success during the games. Canada concluded with a total of 217 medals, which exceeded their original goal of winning 200. The closing ceremony included acts such as Serena Ryder, Pitbull, and headliner Kanye West.

Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina dies at 22
Bobbi Kristina Brown has passed away after being found unresponsive and not breathing in her bathtub nearly six months earlier. The only child of legendary singer Whitney Houston and singer Bobbi Brown was in a medically induced coma for nearly five months until she was moved into a hospice due to her deteriorating condition. Brown’s death comes just over three years after her mother’s death in 2012.

Cecil the lion is killed, presumably by a safari tourist
Cecil, a lion that was used for research at Oxford University, was killed illegally in Zimbabwe. Authorities allege that a foreigner or a group of foreigners paid approximately $55,000 to hunt the 13-year-old lion. According to the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, Cecil was lured out of his dwelling in Hwange National Park, and was shot by a crossbow and later on with a gun to finish him off. The safari operator has been arrested while the investigation continues.
