Laurier’s Waterloo campus has been placed under lockdown after the school was notified of an online threat to its campus.
The lockdown began at 6 a.m. Oct. 16. All students, staff, and faculty have been asked not to come to campus. All classes and meetings for the day have been cancelled. Additional areas surrounding the school will also be inaccessible. Laurier is currently on its Reading Week.
The RCMP and FBI are working alongside Waterloo Regional Police Services (WRPS) and campus police, investigating the validity of the threat.

A WRPS spokesman told CBC News that the threat came over 4chan. The post suggests to students “not to attend the science building at Wilfrid Laurier University.”

UW’s official twitter account says UW campus will remain open and hold classes as normal, as advised by WRPS.
