Student Success Office

The Student Success Office (SSO) aims to help all students (grad or undergrad) reach their full academic potential. The SSO offers a variety of resources related to academic development, leadership training, and study exchanges. Some of these resources include peer success coaches, mentorship programs, and time management templates. The office can also direct international students to information, resources, and peer communities.
Centre for Career Action

The Centre for Career Action (CCA) works to assist UW students with current and future career goals. CCA offers virtual and in-person appointments with career advisors, where students can book mock interviews, career and co-op consults, resume appointments, and more. Also available through CCA are virtual same-day drop-ins, workshops, recorded presentations, and more. Appointments with CCA can be booked through WaterlooWorks, the university’s online career platform.
Mentor Assistance Through Education and Support)

Mentor Assistance Through Education and Support (MATES) is a peer-support service run through the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA). MATES consists of trained student volunteers who support students experiencing academic or social challenges. In-person (both drop-in and pre-booked) and online appointments are available, with each session lasting one hour maximum. Volunteers at MATES can also direct students to resources on and off-campus. Appointments can be booked online through the WUSA website.
International & Canadian Student Network

The International & Canadian Student Network (ICSN) is another service under WUSA, and it aims to create a community for all exchange students at UW. The ICSN hosts many community-building events throughout the year, such as field trips, speed friending, and bowling nights.
Racial Advocacy for Inclusion, Solidarity, and Equity

Racial Advocacy for Inclusion, Solidarity, and Equity (RAISE) is a student-led WUSA service which works to address racism and xenophobia on campus through a number of initiatives. Some of the services offered by RAISE include confidential peer-to-peer support, a library collection of works on marginalization, racism, intersectionality and xenophobia, and social events.
Glow

Another student-led WUSA service, Glow is the oldest continually-running LGBTQ+ student organization in Canada. Glow offers a number of services for queer and trans students, such as movie and board game nights, discussion circles, a lending library of books and films, and peer support.
Office of Indigenous Relations

The Office of Indigenous Relations provides services for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students and staff on campus. The office provides a number of services including territorial and land acknowledgement assistance, events and workshops, student support, and consultation and guidance. Other student resources associated with the office include the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre, the Indigenous Student Association, the Indigenous Residence Community, and the Canadian Indigenous Science and Engineering Society.
AccessAbility Services

AccessAbility Services manages academic accommodations for all students with known or suspected disabilities, including temporary disabilities, disabling illnesses, and impacts from trauma. AccessAbility works with students to create tailored accommodation plans for each class, including a variety of supports such as extended deadlines or note taking services.
Health Services

Health Services is the umbrella containing all medical services for UW students. Some of the services offered include the Student Medical Clinic, the Family Health Clinic, Nutrition Services, verification of illness services, and health information while travelling. The Campus Response Team, a student-run service equipped to assist in emergency situations across campus, also works under Health Services.
Counselling Services

Also under the umbrella of Health Services, Counselling Services provides free programming and individual support to students on campus or in co-op. Counselling Services offers individual appointments (available by phone, video, or in person), groups workshops, pre-recorded seminars, and mental health training programs. Counselling Services can also direct students to external resources, such as online or local mental health services.
