In order to practice social distancing, UW announced that they will not be holding in-person convocations in June.

“Having the chance to meet and celebrate with Waterloo’s newest alumni and their loved ones is something I personally hold close in my heart,” Feridun Hamdullahpur, outgoing UW president, said in an online message.

“I will greatly miss being able to share in your celebrations and honour your accomplishments.”

The university also ensured graduating students that the ceremony is not cancelled, just postponed.

Hamdullahpur informed students that they would be notified about a virtual convocation in June and said that he is hopeful that the ceremony will be held in the fall.

UW will send out diplomas by mail and urges students to update their address on Quest.
