Imprint has learned that a lucky UW student has won over $60,000 in prizes after winning Student Life Network’s (SLN) “Canada’s Luckiest Student” contest, sponsored by CIBC, and they don’t even know it yet.

How lucky is this student? Well, according to Student Life Network, there were well over 2,000 UW students that entered the contest.

On their website, Student Life Network states that the whole purpose of the contest is to remove all stress from an individual student’s life, by giving away the largest prize package in Canadian student history.

Some of the prizes include a $20,000 GIC from CIBC to help finance post-secondary tuition, a trip to Peru and Europe for two, $7,500 from ScholarshipsCanada.com to pay for one year of tuition, free textbooks for the next four years, and free groceries for one year, just to name a few of the perks.

The Contest, which closed on Dec. 31, 2014, was open to all Canadian students over the age of 16. There were no further academic or athletic requirements to be eligible to enter or win.

Last year’s winner was student, Leah Meanwell, from University of British Columbia.

The identity of the student is yet unknown; however, Student Life Network will post a teaser revealing the winner comes from UW Friday morning. The name of the student will be released in a huge planned reveal, on campus, sometime in the coming weeks.
