I’ve been pacing myself through the various finales for the winter season, and it’s time for another season! I really enjoyed the Death Parade anime, and the final episode was pretty much what I expected of the show. Yona of the Dawn, an anime about a princess trying to fulfill a prophecy after her cousin usurps the throne, ended on a strong note and if it doesn’t end up with a second season (More Yona! More Hak!), I’ll be sorely disappointed. Here’s what I’ll be picking up next season, when I’m not busy playing the neglected copy of the Steins; Gate game that I own, or yelling about Knights of Sidonia season two.

Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love Revolutions: I have an unfortunate weakness for this show, and this is the third season. The first season was by far the strongest and follows the adventures of the heroine Haruka Nanami at idol school. Normally, composers are paired with one idol to work towards a debut, but this being a harem anime, she gets six guys to write for her (an idol group). They decided to not go with “Maji Love 3000% ” as the title, surprisingly. Also, it amuses me that Shining Saotome, the principal of the school, is voiced by Norio Wakamoto, though Mamoru Miyano as Tokiya Ichinose is definitely one of the big points of the show. I swear I’m watching this for the music, haha.
Digimon Adventure Tri: While I don’t have the same level of attachment to the original series as a lot of people that grew up with the English dub when it was airing on television here, I do know there is some serious hype for this show. Set six years after the events of the first series, this will be a direct sequel that also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Digimon franchise.
Ninja Slayer The Animation: This is being animated by Studio Trigger, after all.
The Heroic Legend of Arslan: This particular series is about a prince and his journey to reclaiming his fallen kingdom. This adaptation of Yoshiki Tanaka’s novel is based on the comic by Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist, Silver Spoon) — I have always enjoyed her character designs and writing, so I hope this will be good.
My Love Story!!: Looks like a cute and unconventional shoujo anime in the making. Sign me up!
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan: I have seen the Haruhi series, but I’m not in a rush to watch this one, in case… well, the anime turns out badly. It takes place in an alternate universe, but the whole gang is here, so that should be enough of a reason to watch the show.
Honourable mentions: Blood Blockade Battlefront, Seraph of the End, Rainy Cocoa, Ghost in the Shell Arise: Alternative Architecture, Lupin III, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works.
