Fashion For Change unveils this year’s theme

Fashion for Change held its annual theme release party last Friday at the Bombshelter Pub. The party featured a live DJ, free hors d’oeuvres, and a ballot draw for prizes. Over 300 people were in attendance.

Fashion for Change is an organization under the Federation of Students, made up of over 200 members, consisting of models, executives, and directors. The club provides its members with an opportunity to showcase their talents by hosting an annual charity fashion show — the largest of its kind in the tri-city region — with all proceeds going toward Free the Children’s Adopt a Village campaign.

The group has adopted a war-torn village in Sierra Leone, Moyamba, through the campaign, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare and water in the village and to help restore a bit of normalcy in the lives of the residents. Over the past four years, Fashion for Change has raised over $40,000 for the village.

The gala introduced the theme for Fashion for Change’s upcoming fashion show: Prime Time, “A celebration of the eras that inspired great television shows.” The routines for the show will be inspired by primetime television, and will portray shows such as Mad Men, Saved by the Bell, and Gossip Girl, among others.

The show happens March 14, with all proceeds going to the group’s adopted village. For more information, visit Fashion for Change on Facebook, or contact them at info@fashionforchange.com.
