In order to control the geese population in Ottawa’s parks and beaches the City of Ottawa will use oil to cut off the flow of oxygen to the embryo inside goose eggs. Councillor Mathieu Fleury of Rideau-Vanier said, “The parks are almost unusable because there’s goose poop everywhere.” The city has already secured a permit from Environment Canada and lined up a private contractor to begin the practice.
