2. A breakdown in negotiations between Greece and its creditors sends shockwaves through Global financial markets
Global markets responded negatively after negotiations between Greece — nearing bankruptcy — and its creditors fell apart. The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 stock fell 1 per cent — highest volatility the European stock Market has experienced since Jan. 22, days leading up to Greece’s parliamentary election. The Government of Greece must repay the International Monetary Fund the $1.8 billion (1.6 billion euros) it lend the country as part of a stimulus package to deal with the consequences of the Global financial crisis. The breakdown in talks has increased the prospects of default and the possibility of Greece leaving the Euro. KBC strategist said, “It’s clear that each day that passes we come closer to a potential Greek default and this risk aversion is a natural reaction by the market.”

3. The red hot Blue Jays tie a franchise record with their 11th straight victory against Boston
To say the Bluejays are hotter than the sun might be an understatement. The team outscored the struggling Red Sox 31-19 during a three game sweep this weekend in Fenway park. With their 13-5 victory on Sunday afternoon, the jays extended their winning streak to 11 — tying a franchise record. The Blue Jays, who are only a game away from first place in the AL East, will try to extend their winning streak to 12 — which would set a new franchise record — as they start a four game series against the New York Mets in Queens tonight.
